Stefan Schyga, performer, composer and teacher, with jazz drummer Ricky Malichi will perform music from their newest CD “End of the Drought,” at the Hillsboro Community Center at 3pm Sunday, February 18, 2018.

German-born, Schyga has lived nearly 30 years in the US Southwest, earning a Masters in Music Education from UTEP in 1991. He also played in the guitar duo La Vienta, creating a fresh approach to acoustic guitar by combining classical, flamenco, Brazilian music and rock. Stefan has also recorded three solo albums, and performed at the 13th annual World Music Festival in Molln, Germany. Visit www.stefan.us for more.

Schyga has been called “a rare teacher, one that inspires [students’] love for their art.” As a teacher to all levels of students, he has continually sought ways to teach guitar playing in a more effective and interesting way, and has created a large body of free lessons at www.youtube.com/learnhowtoplayguitar

General admission is $10, with seniors and Sierra County Arts Council (SCAC) members just $5. Refreshments and CDs will be available. The Hillsboro Community Center (HCC) is located at 316 Elenora Street, on the south hill overlooking the town. The non-profit HCC schedules a concert monthly, and is a partner of the SCAC.
