From a rich recipe of influences like Suzanne Vega, Lucinda Williams, Ani DiFranco, Patti Griffin, Lori Anderson and Joni Mitchell, Jen Exten’s music constantly evolves in a rich and soulful mixture of lyric and tone.
Migrating to New Mexico after decades of east coast hustle and grind, and a couple of working 80’s rock bands, Jen began writing poetry and soon found a home for her heart in acoustic and new-folk music, playing gigs from Texas to Alaska and honing her performance skills, earning opener spots for some fine musical artists including Dar Williams, Dan Bern and Stephan George.
Her music is accessible and intimate, exploring and navigating the very complex road of simply being human. Bold and soothing, her songs and her voice will reach out and touch you.
“Jen has a wonderful must-be-heard voice with which she conveys her gorgeous melodies.” Dar Williams
