Singer/songwriter Gabrielle Louise possesses a rich soaring voice like a young Joni Mitchell — at one moment folkie and ethereal, the next moment a smoky jazz chanteuse. Her songs are anchored in folk and Americana roots music, with socially conscious lyrics and a strong pop delivery. Of her original music and performance David McGee, New York City music critic and former editor of Rolling Stone, wrote: “She executes a captivating balance of heartache and resolve.”
A talented two-time John Lennon Songwriting Contest finalist and winner of the Jack Maher Songwriting Award, Gabrielle is the daughter of two gypsy musicians, inheriting their wanderlust and love of song. Since graduating Berkeley College of Music in 2007, Gabrielle has toured extensively throughout the United States and released five CDs, including, Journey, Around in Circles, Cigarettes for Sentiments, and Live in Coal Creek Canyon and The Bird in my Chest.
Gabrielle will be accompanied by a two very special musicians, multi-instrumentalist Gregg Daigle and Bass player Justin Thompson, both of Albuquerque. Gregg offers tasteful accompaniment on banjo, mandolin and electric guitar, while Justin shares his unique harmonies. Justin Thompson will open the show with a set of his original songs.
