Date(s) - Sunday February 22, 2015
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Hillsboro Community Center, 316 Elenore Street, Hillsboro
Rich melodies, lilting rhythms and heavenly harmonies are the signature of Bébé La La, the musical duo of Alicia Ultan and Maryse Lapierre, who will perform at the Hillsboro Community Center at 3 PM Sunday, Feb. 22. Originally from Quebec, Canada, singer-accordionist Maryse brings French pop tunes and ballads to their eclectic repertoire, while singer-songwriter Alicia, on guitar and viola, contributes original folk/Americana songs. The result is a musical mélange that, according to Albuquerque Magazine, “slips easily into the ear.”
“Bébé La La’s music is beautiful and haunting with sophisticated, intelligent lyrics,” according to Susan Dunlap of the New Mexico Sentinel. Audience members at their recent Studio de La Luz performance wrote “If I had died anytime during your concert, I would have died happy and at peace,” and “Absolutely beautiful on every level!”
Formed in Albuquerque in 2010, the duo has performed throughout the ABQ area, at the Outpost Performance Space, Solid Grounds Coffeehouse, Old Town, the Corrales Harvest Festival, through AMP Concerts’ library series, and many others. Maryse now lives in Truth or Consequences, where they recently performed at Studio de La Luz. They are currently completing their debut CD at Wall of Sound Studio in Albuquerque.
Refreshments will be served and CDs will be available for sale. The non-profit HCC is located on Elenora Street, next to the Union Church on the south hill overlooking the town. The HCC schedules a concert monthly. For more information on upcoming events see: www.blackrange.org
